How to Properly Measure Lawn Equipment Belts

We get a lot of questions from customers looking for the right size belt. Here are few tricks of the trade from Mowerparts4less.com.

If you are like most of us, finding a cloth tape measure around the house can be a chore all on its own. If I were to go looking for a cloth tape measure it would probably take me at least 20 minutes. I might even have to ask my wife. So, instead grab a string or small rope that is long enough to go around the outside of the belt. Mark the belt where you start the measurement. Take the string or rope all the way around the outside of the belt. Mark on the string or rope where your measurement will end. Now measure the string. This measurement will tell you the correct size of your belt.

If your old belt is shredded or missing and you are unable to measure it, use a rope or string to wrap around the pulleys. Measure the string and add approximately 2 inches. If you have a belt tensioner you may have to take that into consideration also. The belt tensioner will likely add 2 inches or more.

As always, please feel free to reach out to us for assistance finding the right belt. We have thousands of different belt sizes to choose from. Going strictly by a part number could get you the wrong belt. Remember to check the size before you buy.
